At Davis Orthodontics, we strongly believe in giving back to the community. Our mission is to build a strong community of smiles every day, and that goes far beyond our work as your Greer and Simpsonville orthodontist. We have deep ties in our community, and donating, volunteering and sponsoring local charities is just one way we bring our mission to life.
Supporting people in need is part of the Davis Orthodontics DNA. We have a monthly initiative, Davis 4 Charity, that gets our whole team involved in giving back. Each month, one of our staff members picks a charity to support and all of our philanthropic efforts for the month go towards that cause. We’ve had the privilege to work with some very special charities, nonprofits and initiatives over the years. Not only has this allowed us to help those in need — it’s brought us closer together as a team.
The best part is that anyone can give back to their community. Here are a few of the charities we’re proud to support and how you can get involved, too.
The Greenville Humane Society is dedicated to preserving the lives and enhancing the well-being of animals. As one of the largest no-kill shelters in the southeast, the organization saves thousands of animals’ lives every year. Not only does the Greenville Humane Society accept owner surrendered animals, they have partnered with high-kill shelters across the country to bring abandoned animals to safety. The shelter receives zero government funding, relying solely on donations, sponsorships and volunteers from the local community.
How to help: Passionate about helping animals and improving their quality of life? The Greenville Humane Society accepts volunteers for activities of all kinds — from dog walking and making sure the animals are comfortable, to greeting visitors to the adoption center, to assisting in the animal medical center. You can also donate much-needed funds to the non-profit shelter or foster an animal in need. Every little bit helps to save more animals’ lives.
Smiles Change Lives is a national non-profit organization that promotes and provides access to life-changing, essential orthodontic treatment for children from low-income families. The organization works with volunteer orthodontists to provide orthodontic services on a pro-bono basis to underprivileged children. At Davis Orthodontics, we believe everyone deserves the confidence and joy that a beautiful smile can bring. Dr. Buddy is proud to help those that may not be able to afford orthodontics. In the past year alone, he has provided over $20,000 worth of free treatment to individuals in need.
How to help: Fortunately, you don’t have to be an orthodontist to support Smiles Change Lives! There are many ways to get involved by donating, volunteering or simply helping to spread the word online. Visit the Smiles Change Lives website for more information.
Did you know there are many people in our community who, due to age or health-related issues, are unable to leave their homes or prepare their own meals? Greenville Meals on Wheels exists to serve these people. This local non-profit has been delivering meals to people in need for over 50 years, but it’s about so much more than meals — it’s about providing independence, friendship and hope to members of our community who are all too often forgotten. Davis Orthodontics is proud to support Greenville Meals on Wheels by delivering fresh, nourishing meals to homebound individuals.
How to Help: Meals on Wheels needs your support to continue delivering healthy meals to nearly 1500 homes on 130 different routes. Volunteer your time, make a donation or refer a person in need. Even the smallest donation of time or money can make a significant impact.
The Fountain Inn Kids Enrichment Center (also known as FIKE) is a non-profit committed to improving the lives of local youth. The center’s mission is to encourage, educate and enrich children in need through various programs and activities designed to build confidence, inspire leadership and strengthen character. Sadly, many children suffer from abuse, violence and hopelessness from a young age. FIKE is a safe, caring place for kids to grow educationally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Davis Orthodontics has proudly volunteered with FIKE as a team.
How to Help: There are many ways to support the FIKE center. You can volunteer as an After School Buddy, become a mentor to a child in need, offer to teach skills-building workshops, and so much more. Donations and corporate sponsors are also welcome.
Sisters for Hope is a non-profit in Duncan, SC, that seeks to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by breast cancer. We discovered Sisters for Hope when our treatment coordinator, Misty, nominated the organization as her choice for Davis 4 Charity. Breast cancer will affect an estimated 1 out of every 8 women in the United States in our lifetime. Supporting Sisters for Hope brings us one step closer to finding the cure.
How to Help: Many of us will be affected by breast cancer in some way at some point in our lives. The best way to support Sisters for Hope is by making a donation or helping out at one of their fundraisers. Your support will go directly towards breast cancer efforts. This includes house cleaning for people going through treatment, meal preparation, grocery shopping, company during treatment, funeral expenses, and so much more. Visit the Sisters for Hope website to learn more.
